4 years after the original circuit was born, the Fauna Mk.II maintains the original design fuzz circuit that offers truly unique fuzz & drive tones while introducing new features including a whole new sub-octave circuit derived from a rare vintage transistor based effect. Other additions include a transformer input section, assignable octave footswitch, performance improvements... the list goes on.
You can't get more fuzz in one box than this.
New Features
Fauna's versatility has increased tenfold with the addition of two new switches.
The texture switch engages an inductive tone circuit using the Fauna Mk.II's internal transformer that causes high frequencies to saturate earlier. This effect gives rich harmonic distortion, smooth highs & unique octave up tones.
The octave footswitch is now assignable via the 3-way octave toggle switch. Choose between the original octave up, the new transistor based sub-octave, or both in unison.
Updated Controls
The Balance control maintains its original tone shaping purpose - fully clockwise is your unfiltered signal & turning anti-clockwise cuts harsh high end frequencies to help fine tune your dry & octave up (8va) tones - while gaining 2 new functions.
The balance control now also blends between your dry fuzz signal & sub-octave effects. With the sub-octave (8vb) engaged turning it anti-clockwise blends in more 8vb. With both octaves engaged the balance control shifts the bias between 8va & 8vb, clockwise making the 8va more pronounced & anti-clockwise making the 8vb more dominant.
Combining these effects with the wide range of distortion available from the Gain control & unique filtering from the Texture switch offers you a huge range of potential tones to be found.
Performance Improvements
The updated circuit features quieter switching, improved tone filtering for greater clarity & is now less prone to oscillation. All while maintaining the same great fuzz textures from the original pedal.
The Texture switch builds on the effect the original pedal had when rolling your guitar tone all the way off caused by the inductive relationship between your guitar's pickups & the circuit input. This new switch gives you easy access to those tones, while still allowing you control or accentuate this effect with your guitar's tone control.
New Transformer Input
This multi-function transformer supplies the inductive reactance that powers the Texture toggle switch, while also making the Fauna Mk.II stack beautifully with other pedals due to the magnetic distortion produced when running boost pedals into it. As an added bonus it also ensures the pedal will behave the same way anywhere in your chain.
